To be the light of Christ in the community through authentic worship, sharing the truth in love, and meeting the needs of our neighbors.

VISION STATEMENT

Transforming worldly and religious mindsets into the kingdom mindset through the Word and Spirit of God.

1952.  Through the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, Elder William Smith left Muncie, Indiana headed to Indianapolis, Indiana, the city where "God wanted him to plant His church.  Through much prayer and fasting souls were saved, families gathered, membership grew, and the Word of the Lord continued to lead and guide.

1974. The Church was blessed to purchase the building located at 4102 East 30th Street.  This building was transformed physically and spiritually through prayer and fasting.  Smith Temple Church of God in Christ was established on the corner of 30th & Forest Manor Avenue.

2005.  Elder Willam Smith transitioned this life from labor to reward in 2004.  Elder Wilson Ricks became Pastor, changing the name to Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. God's hand of grace and mercy continued to bless.  

2018.  After 16 years of pastoring, Elder Ricks was led by God to choose Elder Forrest H. Wooley III, a young man he met 7 years prior, a former member of 28th Street C.O.G.I.C. and great-grandson of his spiritual mentor, Minister Willie Houghton, to be his successor as pastor of Pentecostal Temple.  Pastor Ricks reached out to Elder Wooley about how God was leading him.  Elder Wooley gladly and humbly accepted the assignment God had given him after much prayer and fasting.  The physical address of the Church changed to 3009 Forest Manor Avenue to coincide with the updated entrance facing Forest Manor.

2021.  November 13, 2021, Bishop Carl J. Steen Jr., Jurisdictional Prelate, installed Elder Forrest H. Wooley III as Pastor with Pastor Emeritus Wilson Ricks by his side.
